The Island Village Project is a scale model of an abstract set designed to explore how land in Orlando, Florida, has been partitioned and manipulated through new construction. The containers are built to slide like a jigsaw, creating a new platform each time. A scenic design extension of James’ work, Celebration, Florida, the model visually represents the complex issues of natural displacement and urban development, highlighting the tension between spectacle, the growing demand for real estate, and the resulting destruction of nature.
